Limited Edition Prints
For the discerning automotive enthusiast, Automotive Images offers over forty limited edition fine art prints. These art prints are published by two methods: Giclée and Lithograph. The Giclée method uses an Iris brand inkjet printer. This top-of-the-line equipment uses the standard four-color process as it sprays the inks onto archival watercolor paper at a perceived resolution of 1800 dpi. These prints are produced individually on a made-to-order basis.
Most giclées are then hand painted to further enhance the image. These are then considered to be mixed-media originals as no two are ever exactly alike. This method is very time consuming and expensive, yet it provides the collector with the best of both worlds for a reasonable price. Edition sizes for giclées tend to be smaller, which, in itself, will command a premium. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for delivery of your custom made giclée.
Lithographs are made on offset presses, whereby the inks are pressed onto acid free paper stock. The entire edition of a lithographic print is made at one time, which makes them much more economical to produce, thus we tend to print larger edition sizes and offer them at lower prices.
Not all images shown here are available as lithographs; some might never be. Lithographs have a catalog number with an “L” suffix.
